    in Books

    Strong women. Strong words. Katherine McIntyre is a feisty Irish chick with a big attitude despite her short stature. She writes stories featuring snarky women, ragtag crews, and men with bad attitudes—high chance for a passionate speech thrown into the mix. As an eternal geek and tomboy who’s always stepped to her own beat, she’s made it her mission to write stories that represent the broad spectrum of people out there, from different cultures and races to all varieties of men and women. Easily distracted by cats and sugar.

  • WE ARE THE CLASH authors Ralph HeibutzkI, Mark Andersen on SKID ROW CHATTER

    in Books

    Slid Row Chatter host Tom Pitts presents WE ARE THE CLASH authors Ralph HeibutzkI and Mark Andersen.
    The Clash was a paradox of revolutionary conviction, musical ambition, and commercial drive. We Are The Clash is a gripping tale of the band's struggle to reinvent itself as George Orwell's 1984 loomed. This bold campaign crashed headlong into a wall of internal contradictions, and rising right-wing power.
    While the world teetered on the edge of the nuclear abyss, British miners waged a life-or-death strike, and tens of thousands died from US guns in Central America, Clash cofounders Joe Strummer, Paul Simonon, and Bernard Rhodes waged a desperate last stand after ejecting guitarist Mick Jones and drummer Topper Headon. The band shattered just as its controversial final album, Cut the Crap, was emerging.
    Andersen and Heibutzki weave together extensive archival research and in-depth original interviews with virtually all of the key players involved to tell a moving story of idealism undone by human frailty amid a climatic turning point for our world.

  • Sizzlin with Sensuality with Luyu---Wild Dove

    in Poetry

    Sensuality is in the aroma of your morning coffee, the flavor as it tickles taste buds, and in the feel of your body as it courses inside... oh, smells so good, come taste sensuality.
    Find it, find your sensual voice. Whisper with wishes for romance, scream with desire, love, and longing. Find it in words;
    In the bold aroma of freshly brewed coffee beans, the crispy taste of sizzling bacon as the flavor delights your tongue...
    in the feel of a kiss as lips brush, tongues tangle, and mouths feast, and in the magic of eyes locking across a crowded room... find it in the beauty of nature, so full of sights, smells and sounds it caresses the senses... Find it...
    Sensuality is everywhere, touch it, taste it, feel it. In poetry we can do anything, be anything; come express yourself.
    Dip your quill inside the inkwell of endless possibilities and show me your sensuality, paint me a picture with your words.
    Close your eyes, inhale, feel, breathe.. write on

    Joyce D. Hightower, a medical doctor, author, and international health consultant, was raised in rural Southern California. As a young adult, mother of three and secondary school teacher, she lived seven years in rural Kenya, before returning home to attend medical school. Her desire to reach beyond borders remained on the back burner until her children were adults. At this time, an invitation came for a three-week project to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Subsequently, she moved there and among other activities, she began a project to provide for orphans and build earning capacity for widows. Her work in the community led to working for an international organization, promoting health quality and safety.
