    Heart 0f The Father

    in Dads and Family

On today's show, we discuss Heart Of The Father. Professor Rohner, of the University of Connecticut, US, said rejection in childhood has the most ‘strong and consistent effect on personality and development’.He added: ‘Children and adults  everywhere – regardless of race, culture, and gender – tend to respond in exactly the same way when they perceived themselves to be rejected.’Professor Rohner said that children who feel unloved tend to become  anxious and insecure, and this can make them needy. Anger and resentment can lead to them closing themselves off emotionally in an attempt to protect themselves from further hurt. This may make it hard for them to form relationships. They can suffer from low self-esteem and find it difficult to handle stressful situations.

  • Best and Worst of Parenting in the Last 30 Years with Dr. Frieda Birnbaum

    in Family

It’s no secret that parenting has changed tremendously in recent years. The number of people becoming parents has dropped, the average age of first-time parents has increased, people are having fewer children, and their kids are living most of their social lives online!  Not to mention how the pandemic has affected families globally.
Parenting today is almost unrecognizable compared to 30 years ago, but there are advantages as well as learning opportunities.  As a mother who had children in her 30’s and 60’s, and as a research psychologist, today's special guest Dr. Frieda Birnbaum has a unique perspective on what’s improved and where there’s still room for growth.
Dr Frieda Birnbaum, PhD is a research psychologist and psychotherapist in Saddle River, New Jersey and the award-winning author of Life Begins at 60: A New View of Motherhood, Marriage, and Reinventing Ourselves and What Price Power: An In-Depth Study of the Professional Woman in a Relationship.
An expert on topics such as family dynamics, parenthood, relationships, addiction, anxiety and depression, Dr Frieda is a seasoned media personality and commentator who is adept at discerning the psychological underpinnings of current issues and parsing the psychological profiles of various newsmakers- politicians, celebrities, criminals, etc.
Notably, Dr Frieda is the oldest woman in America to give birth to twins. The mother of five, her youngest sons were born when she was 60, lending her a unique perspective on issues related to parenting and the empowerment of women at any age.

Parenting Time vs. Legal Decision Making

    in Dads and Family

On today's show, we discuss Parenting Time vs. Legal Decision Making with Family Law Attorney Wendy Hernandez. According to Sacks Tierney P.A. The terms "legal custody" and "physical custody" were replaced with, respectively, "legal decision-making" and "parenting time." The goal was to eliminate the emotions and expectations attached to the term "custody." Custody battles often would evolve into a fight for "sole custody" instead of focusing on the child’s best interest. Furthermore, parents would confuse the terms "legal custody" and "physical custody." Because many of the changes to the statutes are subtle and somewhat technical, it is important to consult with a knowledgeable family law attorney who is well-versed in the statutory changes discussed.

    Yourself-Enterprise

    in Dads and Family

On today's show, Vance reads the chapter Yourself-Enterprise from his book MAN TALK, 12 Must Have Life Changing Conversations Between Men. Your boss doesn’t respect you, you’re just another number. Your salary is sub-par and you’re working week-to-week just to get by. You have weekends free, but only 2 weeks of vacation per year. You constantly wonder “what if I had started my business five years ago like I had wanted?”. You’d hoped to work on your business part-time until it took off, but by the time you get home from your job, you’re exhausted, uninspired and doubtful that it will ever work. You know you were meant for bigger and better things, but you never took that risk on yourself or your enterprise. You played it safe.

This figure depends on a number of factors, but is currently calculated to be an annual income of $23,050 for a family of four.
