Big Blend Radio: Sam Llanas - Return of the Goya - Part 1

    in Country Music

Sam Llanas, formerly of the BoDeans, joins Big Blend Radio to discuss newly released 13th studio album and fourth major solo effort, Return of the Goya - Part 1. The album showcases his long love of classic country music (his earliest musical memory is hearing and being mesmerized by Hank Williams). These eleven works are a loving tribute to a style of music witnessing simple songs with strong melodies and harmonies that told stories resonating in the heart. Longtime fans will be reminded of two of his most beloved songs ("Looking for me Somewhere" from 1986 and "I'm in Trouble Again" from '87).
Produced by lap steel & electric guitarist Sean Williamson & mastered by longtime collaborator Gary Tanin, the recording features many prominent Milwaukee musicians Llanas has worked with over recent years along with new faces, including bassist Matt Turner, drummer Kevin Dunphy, drummer Ryan Schiedermayer, and trombonist John Simons.
This episode was sponsored by the National Parks Arts Foundation who creates unique artist-in-residence programs in park units within the National Parks Service.

  • LOTL The Zone Welcomes Diamond Cheri . Releases new single " Eat "

    in Music

Diamond Cheri Wright, born June 25, 1991, is a professional vocalist born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Diamond grew up in a home built on the love of music, and that love has passed on to her generation. As a young child she watched her mother, Torion, perform as a dancer and solo artist and quickly grew to love the performing arts. In second grade, she put on her first show as an artist at Narvie J. Harris Elementary School and received standing ovations and interests of others. That day, she was told that her performance was too advanced for that level of a talent show and was disqualified and the story only intensifies from here.
She began taking her career more seriously as a member of Atlanta’s hottest up and coming female singing group before embarking on a solo career. As the former lead singer of Az1 for over ten years, Diamond has been performing for live audiences everywhere, sharing not only her vocal ability, but entertaining her audience with the complete live experience. Over the last ten years, she has done over 400 live performances including the Essence Music Festival and competed on shows such as BET's Wild Out Wednesday, American Idol, and the X-Factor.
While attending her alma mater, North Atlanta High School, she excelled in the performing arts of dance, vocals, and acting, making herself a certified triple threat. Her style ranges from a soulful R&B flow, all the way to hip hop and even pop. You better believe she's coming for the number one spot. Music moves her mind, body, and soul. And with these pipes she is sure to move yours too.
